Rewarding Excellence

Women almost constitute 50 per cent of the world population and have been making substantial contribution to socio-economic development. But, unfortunately their contribution largely remains unrecognized and unnoticed in most developing and least developed countries.

In Kenya, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) is a membership-based trade support institution (TSI) working to protect commercial and industrial interests of Kenyan business community. KNCCI has established a wing in itself known as Women In Business (WIB) Sector. WIB-Kenya serves as a sector under KNCCI whose mandate is to integrate empowerment of women in business and Trade from all the 47 Counties with the mandate (KNCCI).

The intent of Women in Business at the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry wing is to build on the existing legacy while empowering women at all levels of government both National and County through education and capacity building.

The year 2017 witnessed a hallmark as the Women In Business sector launched their inaugural awards that seek to celebrate exceptional women in business for their many contributions, and impact awardees (women) from the private, informal sector and business owners, who have achieved their success by overcoming limiting norms and challenges.
